The difference is neither are using class compliant drivers. Both have very similar reported RTL in Logic (about 4ms if memory serves). Since these were tested through USB-C i really wonder if anyone tried a TB3 interface with M1 Mac and what were the results?I have an Apollo Solo (TB3) and RME Babyface Pro (USB). Reaper & Logic Pro X in M1 Mac gives the same RTL values in same sample rate & buffer size settings. Tried this with Reaper in both systems and Logic Pro X in M1 Mac.

I'm starting to think that this is solely related to the Big Sur update and the Core Audio drivers. My PC specs are AMD Ryzen 5900x, 32G of RAM and my Audio Applications are running on HDD not SSD. Both of them perform much better on my PC compared to my M1 Mac Mini, simply better RTL results. I have 2 audio interfaces, Audient ID4 MKii & Arturia Audiofuse Studio. I tried searching the following thread "M1 Apple Silicon Experiences in Audio" but I didn't found something relevant. What interfaces are performing well with Apple silicon ? (with ADAT in and DI input preferably) Does anybody knows if there is a way to fix this issue ? Anyone using an Audient or another audio interface experiencing the same lack of performance ? I don't know Mac OS so I don't know what to think about this answer. "This is because Reaper on your Mac will be running on Core Audio drivers which are native audio drivers to the operating system and not on our ASIO driver which is likely the cause of the higher latency on the operating system when compared to our ASIO driver performance on Windows." I use Reaper on both systems, plugins are updated and M1 compatibles. I tested multiple cables, usb hubs and settings without any changes. Same thing with only one instance of superior drummer.

Only one instance of an amp sim (Neural dsp Nolly or Waves PRS V9) produce audio glitches when recording. On my new macbook m1, I experience 9.6ms round trip latency at 64 samples with the same interface. No issues at all, I can run superior drummer 3, Ezbass and multiples amp sim to record with those settings. I was using the Audient iD 14 MkI on win 10 (intel i5 8265u) and was happy with latency (5.5ms round trip at 64 samples).
